SANDBLASTING

J-Tech Powder Coating has added abrasive blasting so we can process your work in-house.

Sandblasting, sometimes known as abrasive blasting, is the operation of forcibly propelling a stream of abrasive material against a surface under high pressure to smooth a rough surface, roughen a smooth surface, shape a surface or remove surface contaminants.

We have installed a fully enclosed blast room large enough to blast any parts that fit in our powder oven.  Our oven is 8’ x 8’ x 30’ so whatever your project is, we can handle it for you.  Our blast room reclaims the grit which is cleaned in an airwash and cycled back through the blast system.  The room has a Torit filter system that captures all the dust produced by the process and collects it for disposal.  The 75 HP compressor and 7/16” nozzle have the power to clean even heavily rusted parts very quickly.  This system is  environmentally friendy and economical to operate.

Abrasive blasting is done with a #80 steel grit.  This grit provides the correct surface profile for powder coat paint adhesion with a smooth finish.  By adjusting the blast pressure, this media is suitable for any materials that we can powder coat.

Why Blast Your Parts?

Many times new steel weldments have mill scale or rust that must be removed prior to painting.

Older equipment with faded, chipped or peeling paint and rust can be cleaned off for a better than new surface prep.

Parts that are oily, greasy or have tar on them will be power washed and baked first to remove contaminants. Once cleaned the paint and rust can be blasted off.

Abrasive blasting is the best way to clean the surface and guarantee a long lasting, quality paint finish.

We mostly intend to blast and paint, but if you have a project that you just want blasted and plan on coating some other way, feel free to contact us.
